The wall of Angkor Thom city was a great wall back to ancient times. Inside the wall, there are a hundred temples. This oldies construction keeps changing through time and now it needs a special treatment to keep it standing tall for another decade. Recently, the APSARA National Authority worked to restore the wall of Angkor Thom.
The restoration site is 25-meter-long and it is a wall in the east of Dei Chhnang Gate of Angkor Thom, which began in March 2021. So far, about 70% of the restoration work has been completed and is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2021. Noted that since 2013, APSARA National Authority has restored 10 parts of Angkor Thom’s wall that were badly damaged, with a total length of 160 meters.
Next time when you come here you will notice that some of the stone looks fresh while another looks rusty. Thanks to all the technical teamwork from APSARA National Authority, you all are a great team who work tirelessly to keep our ancestor property alive.
