Pea Raing lake, located in Chhrav commune, Siem Reap town which is only 30 minutes from the central town. This beautiful lake is a part of Tonle Sap lake which one of the great lakes in Cambodia as well as in South East Asia.
Pea Raing is one of the Bird Sanctuary among many other places in Cambodia, what is the special and its interesting point is it is closest to Siem Reap town, with good adventure in the dry season, and you also can travel by boat during the rainy season. Tonle Sap lake is a great place for the aquatic bird we have more a hundred species of them live together, while some of them are in danger of extinction. However, at Pea Raing you still can see those birds flying, swimming, with your naked eyes. Those birds are, the huge lesser and greater adjutant storks, the milky stork, and the spot-billed pelican, moreover, this floating forest area also a harmony nest for other small and beautiful bird, like Sunbird and bulbul.
As it is under well conservation from the local authority, this stunning lake is less pollution from any waste, poisonous fertilizer, and all picture of the hunting. While we are on the boat, some often time the fish jump into the boat, as the amount of the fish in this lake is tremendously a lot.
Beside of bird, fish and ecology system, you also can see a beautiful sunset along with lullaby sound from the bird. This harmony place is not just for the bird but also for us to release stress.
